Novotny started six games and tallied 13 points last season for St. John’s. He was named to the Big East honor roll after registering three goals, one assist and three groundballs against Villanova last April.

Novotny was a Second Team All-Phillylacrosse.com pick in 2009 when he led the Philly area in goals with 78. He also was named the Pioneer Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Year in 2007, 2008 and 2009. He was a key factor when the Rams won the PAC-10 crown in 2007; and he helped them reach the PAC-10 finals in 2008 and 2009.

Novotny, who scored 220 career goals, also received the prestigious Summit Award for Outstanding Career Achievement at Spring-Ford.

Pitt plays in the newly re-aligned Central Collegiate Lacrosse Association, which includes three-time defending MCLA champion Michigan, Michigan State, Central Michigan, Western Michigan, Ohio, Toledo and Ball State. The Panthers finished 7-10 last year in the CCLA South.

Novotny will join former Spring-Ford teammates Matt Pham (junior midfielder) and Cameron Malloy (junior midfielder) at Pitt. Pham, Malloy and Novotny were all First Team PAC-10 picks on the 2007 team.

The Panthers begin their season with scrimmages against area varsity programs, playing both Division III St. Vincent College and Division II Seton Hill on February 12th. Pitt then returns home to host CCLA D2 power Grove City College on February 18th.
