Bookmark and Share Printer Friendly Apr. 10, 2011

On a humid Friday night and under the lights in Lexington, Kentucky, the Pittsburgh Panthers met up in an out of conference (OOC) game with the Alabama Crimson Tide on a neutral field.  The Panthers were traveling light, but came up with a 14-7 win over the Tide.

Sophomore attackman Tyler Novotny lead the panthers in scoreing with 6G, 2A, while fellow junior attackmen Chris Roy (3G, 2A) and junior captain attackman Conor Brown (2G, 2A) rounded out the bulk of the scoring for Pitt.  In total, seven different panthers scored points in this game.

Freshman goalie Drew Miller saw his third consecutive start and third career win, filling in for the injured captain and goalie Chris Gorham. Drew stopped 10 of the 17 shots he faced, improving his season save percentage to 67.1% on the season, and putting him to third in the CCLA for save percentage, and second for average goals allowed per game.

Saturday's game versus the University of Kentucky was cancelled due to heavy rains, lightning, and flooded fields, and Sunday's game versus Ball State University was cancelled as agreed upon by both coaches.

The Pitt Panthers are in action next weekend with the Backyard Brawl on Friday night versus rival West Virginia Mountaineers, with the season finale on Sunday vs the Wake Forest Demon Deacons.  Both games will be played in Pittsburgh, the game time and venue fpr both games will be announced later in the week.
