Pitt vs WVU and Wake Forest Weekend Preview

This weekend, the Pitt Panther's Lacrosse team closes out the 2011 regular season with two home games versus SELC teams West Virginia Mountaineers and the Wake Forest Demon Deacons.

On Friday, April 15, rival West Virginia comes to Pittsburgh for this year's edition of the Laxyard Brawl, and will be played at the Cost Center.  Gates open and pregame activites will begin at 7:30 PM, the game will start at 8:00 PM.   Admission is $5 for adults, and $2 for children, students, and any local lacrosse player (high school or younger).  You may have to pay for parking ($5-10) at the cost center, and seating is limited (bring a chair!)

West Virginia is currently 4-6 on the season, and 1-2 in SELC play.  WVU recently moved from the CCLA Conference, to the SELC at the beginning of this season.  The Mountaineers are lead by senior attackmen Scott Luecking (14G, 11A) and Mike Lugat (13G, 7A). On Sunday, April 17, the Wake Forest Demon Decons come to Pittsburgh for the 2011 regular season finale for both teams.  This is the third meeting between Pitt and Wake Forest as Pitt swept a home-and-home series in the 2007 and 2008 seasons by a combined score of 26-13.  

The Pitt/Wake Forest game will be played at Martorelli Stadium in the North Hills of Pittsburgh.   Admission is $5 for adults, and $2 for children, students, and any local lacrosse player (high school or younger).  Gates open at 1:00 PM, and the game is set to start at 2:00 PM.

Wake Forest is currently 6-2 on the season, and 2-1 in SELC play.  The Demon Decons are led by junior midfielder Kevin Murray (15G, 14A), senior attackman Ethan Collins (14G, 6A), and junior midfielder Tanner Combias (12G, 8A).
