Panther's take Advantage of Free Time before CCLA's, Volunteer at the Woodlands FoundationMay. 6, 2011 Classes at the University of Pittsburgh ended this past Saturday, giving all of the student athelets time to recover from the stresses of the school year and focus on lacrosse as the team prepares for their first round CCLA playoff match up with Michigan State. With all of the time between practices and other game preparations that the team had this week, the Panthers decided to take advantage of a unique opportunity and give back to the community, volunteering at the Woodlands Foundation in the north hills of Pittsburgh.
"This was the player's reaching out on their own and this was great to help out and give back to our community, " said senior defensemen Jordan Kepner. "Our work really made a difference and the camp directors were extremely grateful for our help as we were grateful for the opportunity." Founded in 1936, the Woodlands is a non-profit organization dedicated to enriching the lives of children and young adults with disability and chronic illness. Using its fully accessible and barrier-free facilities, The Woodlands' programs enable participants to experience social, cultural, environmental, recreational and spiritual growth.
