The University of Pittsburgh Men's Lacrosse team travelled to Parkersburg, West Virginia for a fall ball match up with second year NCAA Division 2 Ohio Valley University. The game started a 12:00 PM in light rainy and muddy conditions as the Panthers played their first game outside of the Cost Center this Fall. The game was played with 25-minute running halves.

PITT Quickly went up on the Fighting Scots and controlled the ball for a majority of the first half, ending with PITT ahead 7-0.  PITT went deep into the depth chart in the second half of the game as all Panthers on the roster saw action in the game versus Ohio Valley, and the game ended with a final score of 12-1.

Junior attackman Tyler Novotny (3G, 1A) and Sophomore attackman Alex Powell (1G, 3A) lead the panthers offensively with 4 points each, while goalie senior Chris Gorham and his starting defense of sophomore Max Carlson, sophomore Eric Bulgarelli, and senior Eric O'Neill held the Scot offense to one shot and a shut out in the first half.

Many new faces also contributed to the action in PITT's first game of the fall.  The all-rookie midfield line of the Peck twins (Colin and Bryan) and Tom Pham saw significant action and contributed 3 points and 7 ground balls. Freshman defensemen Ted Wight, Noah Rabin, and Sam Marousek provided a lock down defense in the second half as the Fighting Scott offense came to life.  Freshman Phil Spagano is also beginning to emerge as the team’s leading face-off specialist as he controlled the draw and ended winning 5 out of his 7 face offs.

The second game of the day versus the Morgantown Lizards Lacrosse Club was cancelled as Morgantown failed to field a substantial roster, and did not travel to Parkersburg.  The Panther's are not looking to reschedule this game at this time.

Next week, the defending MCLA Division 2 national champion, Davenport University, travels to Pittsburgh for a game versus PITT.  This game is set for next Sunday, October 9, at 12:00 PM at the Cost Center.  Admission to the game is free.

HAIL TO PITT!
