Bookmark and Share Printer Friendly Feb. 10, 2012

UPDATE: Games have been cancelled due to inclement weather conditions. Stay tuned for more info.

Pittsburgh, PA –This Saturday, February 11th, Pitt Lacrosse will travel to Greensburg to take on St. Vincent’s College (NCAA DII) and Seton Hill University (NCAA DII). The Panthers play two games in a row during the triple-header, starting at 1:00 and 3:00 pm. The match ups will mark the second and third scrimmages against NCAA opponents this year.

“We like playing against these NCAA teams because it gives us a great gauge for where our program stands,” says senior defenseman Eric O’Neill.

The Panthers will start the day off against St. Vincent’s College. Senior Attackman Will DeLanoy leads the Bearcats on offense, and will be looking to top his team high 67 points from the 2011 season.

The Panthers are missing Pat Bursch this season; a St. Vincent’s transfer whose MCLA eligibility expired in the  fall, Bursch was an All-CCLA 2nd team Midfielder last season. He finished with a balanced 16 goals and 17 assists, for a team second best of 33 points.

Seton Hill’s offense is powered by #22 Matt Delmonico and #27 Jimmy Delaney, while #35 Peter Hilton and #26 Anthony Rusch head up the defense.

Come out and watch some of the hottest offenses compete in one of the coldest days of winter! The Panthers, however, will be prepared for the cold weather and snow: “We knew to expect about six more weeks of winter, so were ready for the cold” commented Freshman Pat Kelly, in reference to a recent trip to Punxsutawney. Kelly and a couple other players were interested in determining outdoor practice schedules for the next couple of weeks, and are following up on the prediction of weather prognosticating legend and resident groundhog, Punxsutawney Phil.
