Pittsburgh, PA - This Saturday, February 18th, Pitt matches up against MCLA DII opponent Grove City College at the Cost Center on Saturday at 4:00PM for the final scrimmage of the 2012 preseason. On Sunday, February 19th, the Panthers will host Central Michigan University, also at home, for the 2012 Season Opening game at 1:00PM. Gates open 1 hour before scheduled start time. Fans are encouraged to bring chairs, as seating in the Mezzanine is limited. Admission is FREE with Pitt Student ID, $5 for adults and children over 12 years old. Kids, have any PITT PANTHERS gear? Wear it to the game to get in for free! Parking is available at the Cost Center.
Both games will be exciting and fun to watch. Pitt defeated Grove City College 14-9 last season. Grove City recently hired Former Ohio State Captain Andrew Stimmel as Head Coach. This is the first game with Stimmel at the helm, and also the first game of the 2012 season for Grove City College. The Panthers did not meet up with the Chippewas of Central Michigan University last season, but faced similar opponents including Northeastern, Michigan State, and Michigan. Against these three teams, Pitt went 1-2. CMU fared slightly worse, finishing 0-3. However, against these same opponents, Pitt scored 17-51, while CMU’s ratio was 11-54. The Chippewas are currently on a 1-0 streak after routing Hope College 4-12 two weeks ago. Follow @PittPanthersLax on Twitter for live scores, stats, and much more!
