Gauchos To Face Bruins in WWLL Quarterfinals

La Jolla, CA - WWLL Championships Tournament headquarters released the seeds and brackets for the 25th Annual WWLL Championship Tournament and UCSB is seeded sixth to face third seeded UCLA. The Gauchos will play the Bruins in a 10:00am game on Saturday, April 18th. Success will mean a 2:00pm semifinal with the winner of the Cal Poly SLO vs. San Diego State game. The Bruins were successful in the regular season game at UCSB on February 7th when they won 12-8.

Success in both the quarterfinal and the semifinal gets UCSB to the championship game at 2:00pm on Sunday. The winner of the championship game receives an automatic qualifier spot for the WCLA National Championship Tournament May 5th - 8th in Virginia Beach. Saturday in La Jolla also features the WWLL All-League Awards Ceremony at 5:30pm. Individual award recipients for All-League teams, Player of The Year and Coach of The Year for each of three divisions are honored at this ceremony.

Four teams are in the 10:00am and 2:00pm bracket while the other four teams play in the 12:00pm and 4:00pm bracket.  Additional games are played in the WWLL Division Two bracket and the WWLL B Division bracket, each containing four teams. The sixteen team total for a conference championship event is the highest among all WCLA conferences. 

The UCSB 'B' Team is also competing at the championships in the four team WWLL B Division Championship. The 3rd seeded Gauchos face 2nd seeded UC Davis 'B' in a 4:00pm semfinal game on Saturday. Success in that one puts them in the 10:00am B Division championship game on Sunday verus the winner of the Cal Poly SLO 'B' and UCLA 'B' game.
