Gauchos Run Record to 8-2Feb. 28, 2009
"It was good to have a little breather compared to the rest of our schedule and I think it showed our reserves are good players," said second year head coach Paul Ramsey. "Players who sub in for us would be starters at most other WDIA programs and even though they already know that this game helps everyone see it, continued Ramsey." Two Bay Area players led UCSB in scoring. Sophomore Ashley Antoon-Algieri (San Ramon, CA) had 4 goals and 1 assist while freshman Megan Dawe (Martinez, CA) had 4 goals. Twelve different Gauchos scored a goal or had an assist. Senior Selina Eadie (Davis, CA) led UCSB in ground balls for the second straight game with 4 pick ups. Junior Monora Seth (San Diego, CA) had 3 caused turnovers and 3 ground balls. Freshman goalie Jeni Centner (Tustin, CA) had 5 saves. The Gauchos get a break with no mid week games coming up but enter a stretch of three games on the road. It starts with a trip north to play 22nd ranked Chico State at Pioneer High School in San Jose and at 3rd ranked Santa Clara, March 7th & 8th. Then a week later UCSB will make a short day trip to Malibu to take on 17th ranked Pepperdine on March 15th before entering a stretch of 14 days off over final exams week and spring break before resuming play again April 4th on opening day of the Western States Tournament at Stanford.
